World Health Organization reports that more than 5,000 people died from coronavirus
According to the World Health Organization, on March 13, the death toll from coronavirus infection COVID-19 exceeded 5,000. This statement was made by WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus .
He called these numbers a “tragic mark” and stated that “ Europe has now become the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic.” So, WHO cited Italy as an example , where the number of coronavirus victims increased by 250 per day and amounts to 1,266.
At the same time, during a briefing, the World Health Organization stated that it was “impossible” to say when the new type of coronavirus pandemic would peak.
Recall, on March 11, WHO announced a pandemic of a new coronavirus in the world, since the scale of the spread of the disease can no longer be characterized as an epidemic. At the same time, the organization urged not to use the word “pandemic” lightly, as this can cause “cause unreasonable fear.”
Ghebreyesus said that if the state conducts tests, processes the premises, isolates the infected, tracks people who have been in contact with patients, in this case it is possible to prevent the widespread spread of the pandemic.
