Tiffany Haddish is one celebrity who actually makes the “stars, they’re just like us!” idea feel believable. Sure, she’s already a successful comedian, actress, author, and musician, with a full slate of exciting new things on the horizon. But the 42-year-old also dreams of collaborating with Beyoncé — “That’s my boo!” — and you can add doing laundry to her list of ongoing projects, she tells Woman’s Day. “I like washing my own clothes, because if it gets messed up, then it’s on me,” she explains. “I mean, I’m down to my last three pairs of drawers, so that’s why today’s assignment is laundry day,” she laughs. “I just took out the trash before you got here,” she assures me. “I’m about taking care of my own self.”

We connected with the afterparty star to talk all things self-care, beauty, health, and wellness, inside and out. From her answer to my initial, “Hi, how are you?” (“I’m successful, I woke up today. How are you?”), to rocking a gorgeous, makeup-free face and pointing out a pimple during our video interview: “You are perfect the way you are, period. That’s why I have no makeup on today. Look at my pimples! I’m perfect with my pimples. That means I’m still young!” Haddish’s genuinely down-to-earth attitude had me feeling like I was chatting with a (particularly hilarious) friend.

Even Haddish’s morning skincare routine is surprisingly low-maintenance (no, really!). She washes her face with coconut oil in the shower, then moisturizes with either Tatcha cream or the SKN by Lori Harvey moisturizer. “It depends on how hot it’s going to be for the day,” she says. “And that’s pretty much all I do.”

Her nighttime skincare routine is a little bit more involved, but it’s still very straightforward. “If I have on makeup, you gotta do a deep scrub. That’s usually two, three times a week. Do a deep scrub, get all that off my face. Use [The Rice Polish Foaming Enzyme Powder] and oil from Tatcha. And then rinse all that off,” she says. “And I put a little bit of that nighttime firming cream on from Lori Harvey’s line.”

In addition to Tatcha and SKN, Haddish also swears by two inexpensive household products for keeping her skin clear — the aforementioned coconut oil, and one that might surprise you. “I do a baking soda scrub once a week, because that really gets rid of bacteria and fungus and stuff. A little bit of baking soda, add some coconut oil, mix that together. It’s exfoliating — let it sit on your skin for one minute, and then wash it off,” she says.

“To stay physically healthy, I like to drink a lot of water, like a gallon of water a day. I like to talk to my water, tell my water what it’s going to do inside my body.” Hey, whatever works! “I like to take my vitafusion gummy Multi+ Beauty, ’cause I wanna be beautiful,” adds Haddish, who is to an ambassador for the brand.
