What To Consider When Buying An Eye Cream
When choosing an eye cream, consider your goals first. There are many active ingredients out there that work to correct various skincare concerns underneath the eyes, but there are a few star players that you’ll find in many formulas. “Look for ingredients like peptides to strengthen the delicate skin around the eye area, and hyaluronic acid is helpful to keep the area hydrated,” says Celebrity facialist Joanna Vargas.
In addition to hylaronic acid and peptides, Vargas also recommends additional active ingredients that can help reduce fine lines, wrinkles and tighten the under-eye area. “Ingredients to look for in eye products include vitamin C for elasticity, galactoarabinan for cell turnover and sweet potato or cucumber for puffiness,” she says.
There are various types of consistency found in eye cream formulas, from gels to lightweight moisturizers to thick creams. When choosing a consistency, consider your skin type and specific eye concerns first. “I think consistency is personal,” Vargas says. “Use whatever feels best.” Keep in mind, however, that eye products can irritate the eye when they aren’t the right fit.
