Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people were freed.
The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.
Juneteenth recognizes the end of slavery in the United States.
The formation of their new product, Charcoal Vanilla Latte Face Mask, is a peek into Black history. It blends clays, activated charcoal, vanilla, and other plant-based, skin-loving powders with Red Bay’s Carver’s Dream coffee — named after George Washington Carvers who was born enslaved, and became one of the most prominent scientists and inventors of his time, as well as a teacher at the Tuskegee Institute.
