New 3-year contract gives Pickerington police officers 4% annual raises

Pickerington police personnel represented by the Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge No. 9 will receive 4% raises annually for three years following the recent approval of a new collective bargaining agreement.

City Council voted unanimously June 7 to approve a new contract with the 33 members of the Pickerington Police Department represented by the FOP.

It provides annual salary increases for officers and sergeants for 2022, 2023 and 2024.

“I believe the new contract is fair and was negotiated with the best interests of the city in mind,” City Manager Greg Butcher said.

The contract covers the city’s rank-and-file law enforcement personnel.

It does not govern compensation for police Chief Tod Cheney or Cmdr. Greg Annis, whose salaries are set by council.

FOP Capital City Lodge No. 9 President Jeff Simpson, who negotiated on behalf of the city’s police personnel, said the contract was needed so officers could keep up with inflation and cost-of-living adjustments in the economy.
