A woman in the USA has taken her dentist to court over his attempt to address issues with all 28 of her teeth in just five hours.
Kathleen Wilson, the patient in question, spent an extensive five hours in the dentist’s chair and later decided to pursue legal action, as reported by The Independent.
Wilson filed a lawsuit against her dentist, Kevin Moldrem, who had endeavored to treat all her dental problems in a single visit. When Wilson initially sought Moldrem’s consultation, the majority of her teeth were in a distressed state. Rather than opting for a phased approach, Moldrem decided to tackle the entire treatment in one go. In that single session, he fitted 8 crowns, cleaned 4 root canals, and placed 20 fillings. The dental procedure, lasting five hours, necessitated a double dose of anesthesia.
The patient was dissatisfied with the dentist’s rushed approach and the excessive use of anesthesia. Furthermore, after enduring five hours in the dentist’s chair, she had to seek assistance from another dentist to rectify some of Moldrem’s work.
“A thoughtful, deliberate, careful, and measured treatment plan was what Kathy needed, given the nature of her dental issues. Trying to address every dental concern in one visit not only goes against a sensible approach, but it is simply inhumane,” stated a dentist who was called in as an expert witness in Moldrem and Wilson’s legal case.
