WITH summer quickly approaching, we want to put our best skin forward.
A skincare specialist, who also calls herself an anti-aging expert and makeup artist with more than 20 years of experience, has revealed her 10 tips to help your skin look amazing at all times.

CLEAN SHOWERHEAD
Tamaryn Leigh Buchner, who has thousands of followers on social media, advised people to clean their showerheads and taps as often as they can.
“What I do is take vinegar and baking soda, and put it in a plastic baggie which I tie over the tap head or showerhead, and I leave that soaking the whole day,” she explained in her video.
“What comes out will scare you to death.”
CHANGE PILLOWCASES DAILY
“Listen to me, change your pillowcase every single evening,” she suggested.
“Imagine going to bed and you just had your skincare done, and you go and put your beautiful skin on yesterday’s yucky products and dead skin cells.”
USE GLYCERIN AS SERUM
If you run out of your favorite nighttime serum, you can use glycerin instead.
She explained that it is great for the skin because it acts as a humectant, which is a substance that allows the skin to retain moisture.
It can increase skin hydration, relieve dryness, and refresh the skin’s surface. It’s also an emollient, which means it can soften skin.
“You get this plumping effect, which is awesome,” she noted.
MAKEUP PREP
Don’t you dare put a single ounce of makeup on before you’ve moisturized and put sunscreen on your face.
“Personally, I have about four layers of skincare before makeup even gets to touch my skin,” she noted.
EXFOLIATE
A lot of people tend to be scared when it comes to exfoliating their skin, but Buchner explained that it should be your best friend.
ADJUST YOUR SLEEP POSITION
The expert suggested avoiding sleeping on your face (or with your face against the pillow) because it can cause premature wrinkles.
However, if you do sleep like this, “I would really invest in silk pillowcases.”
“It really does the job,” she added.
USE RETINOL
“Retinol is fantastic for skin, it does wonders for fine lines and wrinkles,” she explained.
It does this by increasing the production of collagen in the skin.
It also stimulates the production of new blood vessels in the skin, which improves skin color. Other benefits include fading age spots and softening rough patches of skin.
TAKE CARE OF HANDS
What you do to your face, you want to do to your hands, Buchner mentioned.
“I can’t even tell you how many beautiful women I have seen that I really couldn’t tell their age, except when I look at their hands. And that gave it away.”
DON’T FORGET THE NECK
“In the skincare world, the face actually means the face, neck, and decollete,” she explained.
You’ll always want to drag all of your skincare steps down to these spots to make sure every part of your body stays hydrated and looks younger.
EAT HEALTHY
“Eat for your skin,” Buchner said.
You’ll want to eat plenty of unprocessed foods, hydrating ones, and ones that will heal you from the inside out.
Some of these foods include fatty fish, avocados, walnuts, sweet potatoes, bell peppers, broccoli, tomatoes, soy, and dark chocolate, according to Healthline.
